League Playoffs

210 - League Playoffs

a. Metro Red Division - All teams will qualify for double knockout league playoffs.

b. Metro Blue Division - All teams will qualify for double knockout league playoffs.

c. Rural White Division - All teams in league will qualify for league playoffs. The 1st place team will receive a bye in the quarter-final series.

    2nd place vs. 3rd place

d. Rural Black North Division - All teams in league play will qualify for league playoffs. The 1st and 2nd place teams will receive a bye in the quarter-final series.

    3rd place vs. 6th place
    4th place vs. 5th place

e. Rural Black East Division - All teams in league will qualify for league playoffs.

    1st place vs. 4th place
    2nd place vs. 3rd place

f. Rural Black West Division - All teams in league will qualify for league playoffs.

    1st place vs. 4th place
    2nd place vs. 3rd place

The procedure for determining standings in the event teams are tied during League play is as follows:

i. If teams are tied, the teams will be ranked with the team with the most wins in total League play finishing higher.

ii. If teams are still tied, the team with the best win/loss/tie record in games played against each other will finish higher.

iii. If still tied after 1 and 2, then the team with the best goal differential in games played amongst each other will finish higher, then fewest goals against, then most goals for, then fewest penalty minutes, all in games amongst each other.

iv. If still tied after 1, 2, and 3, then the team with the best goal differential in total League play will finish higher. (i.e. team has 123 goals for and 81 goals against, their differential would be + 42). Final tiebreaker is a coin toss.

e. Division quarter-final series will be the first team to 4 points. Overtime only on the third game.

f. Division semi-final series will be the first team to 4 points. Overtime only on the third game.

g. Division final series will be the first team to 4 points. Overtime only on the third game.

h. The winner of the Red Division and the winner of the Blue Division will play a best of three game league quarter-final series. The winner of the Black East Division and the winner of the Black West Division will play a best of three game league quarter-final series. The winner of the White Division and the winner of the Red Blue Divisions quarter-final series will play a best of three-game league semi-final series. The winner of the Black North Division and the winner of the Black East Black West Divisions quarter final series will play a best of three-game league semi-final series.

i. The league final series will be the winner of the Red/Blue divisions and White division league semi-final series and the winner of the Black East/Black West divisions and the Black North division league semi-final series. Every game must have a winner. If the Rural Black division winner is more than 300 km. in distance, the Red/Blue and White division winner will have venue for all three games of the best-of-three final series.

j. The team with the best standing in league play will always have venue except when the Red/Blue and White division winner plays a Black NE/Black NW and Black North division winner in the final series and the Black winner is more than 300 km. in distance, the Red/Blue and White division winner will have venue for all three games of the best-of three final series.

k. In the Quarter and Semi-final series the teams will alternate hosting games.

l. Overtime for all playoff games will follow Hockey Alberta overtime rules.

Division Quarter Final Series Black East, West and North Divisions play a best of three game series starting on February 13, 14 and if necessary February 15, 2015

Red and Blue Divisions play a double knockout series starting on Tuesday, February 17 to Saturday, February 28, 2015

Division Semi Final Series Black East, West, North and White Divisions play a best of three game series starting on February 20, 21 and if necessary 22, 2015

Division Final Series Black East, West, North and White Divisions play a best of three game series starting on Friday February 27, 28 and if necessary March 1, 2015

Division Final Series Red Division Winner vs Blue Division Winner in a best of three game series starting on Monday, March 2, 3 and if necessary, March 4, 2015

League Semi Final Series Black East/Black West Divisions vs Black North Division best of three game series starting on March 6, 7 and if necessary March 8, 2015

League Semi Final Series Red/Blue Divisions vs White Division in a best of three game series starting on March 6, 7 and if necessary March 8, 2015

League Championship Series

Winner of Red/Blue/White Series and Winner of Black East/Black West/Black North Series will play a best of three series starting on March 13, 14 and if necessary 15

City & Rural Divisional Play

There are be six divisions.  Two city and four rural. Teams play most of their games in their own divisions and the next closet division with some travel to the other two divisions.  Check out the list of teams under the menu for Standings and Rosters.
